"I usually paint images that I have digitally photographed then printed out in colour onto A4 paper. Once I have settled on the dimension that will suit I freehand sketch the outline onto hardboard or canvas prior to painting in oils

On a holiday in Texas early this year I returned home inspired to complete artworks of some of the places and people we had come across. These artworks include two I completed in charcoal and pencil. For these I researched in books and magazines to achieve the accuracy I sought since these images probably don't physically exist (I always wanted to be a cowboy!).

For this exhibition I include oil paintings of scenes that do exist!" Craig Hooker
